HYPER KIRCHER - A FRAGMENT

(1989, interactive Hypercard document)

Single bit interractive Hypercard repository of text and visuals gathered during my research on the Kircher Itinerary, a cycle of video installations inspired by the 17th century polymath Athanasius Kircher. A  larger file was lost during a computer crash in 1990, whence the work stands as a fragment. The video installations, however, were completed: Of Shadow and Light - Riddle of Images, The Bernoulli Itinerary, Urbs Turrita - City of Towers, Fundamentals of Legerdemain. Instead of issuing a catalog, I wrote two short novels that document, in fictionalized form, my own itinerary in the making of these works: One Hour of Deception (1991, Istituto Svizzero di Roma) and Rats - Ratten (1994, StopOver Press and DAAD in Berlin).
