THE MEDUSA ISSUE
The project reimagines Medusa as a contemporary subject on the cover of Vogue magazine — poised, self-possessed, and situated between the high-fashion image and cinematic atmosphere. Developed as a AI-generated sequence of covers, it explores what it might mean for Medusa to exist within the language of Vogue itself. Begun in 2023, the work has since evolved into prints and moving-image sequences.
Medusa (on the cover of Vogue magazine) - 2026 Edition
Date: 2026
Dimension: variable
Technique: pigment ink on polycarbonate, multimedia
Stable Diffusion - Medusa Rising I-VIII
Date: 2023/24
Dimension: variable
Series of 8 monoprints
Technique: pigment ink on synthetic paper
Step by step, Medusa emerges from the amorphous noise of the Stable Diffusion latent space and intertwines with a confabulated skyline of New York. I treat the intermediate stages generated during this progressive upscaling like etching plates: each phase is printed individually and further refined by hand. Ancient myth meets digital retina, and the classical print format captures a process of becoming that would otherwise vanish in the fleeting realm of data.
