MOVING VAST AMOUNTS OF WATER TO A BARREN PLACE

(2004, 8:30’, SD video, stereo)

Time lapse observation of several sequential processes of nature - some causality. Computer animation and video, commissioned by Swiss Television, SF1 Sternstunde.

Moving Vast Amounts of Water to a Barren Place, a theme suggested by Novalis, conjectures a counterpart to Glenn H. Curtiss' historic flight of 1910: one of mental association where the Hudson Flyer takes to the air above a New York State of memory. The craft permeates matter, like water changing from vapor to liquid to solid, tunneling to the inner fire of memory's images, imagination and dream.
